Corns and calluses will appear on the feet as a result of applied pressure or friction. They will appear as small areas of rough, thick skin, that can often be more yellow in appearance. Corns and calluses can often cause physical discomfort when you are walking.
Without treatment, corns and calluses can often get worse over time, becoming thicker and causing more pain.
To avoid this, it is best to seek treatment. Centre for Surgery offers laser removal using Fotona’s Er:YAG laser.
There are many benefits to undertaking laser removal, such as:
You will be a suitable candidate for this procedure if you have corns and calluses on your feet which you are wishing to remove.
Laser removal can be undertaken on any skin type.
You will need to be at least 18 years old to undergo this procedure.
Before having laser removal, you will meet with one of our surgeons, who will be able to assess whether or not you are suitable for this procedure.
Corns and calluses will be removed using the Er:YAG laser. The laser is able to be aimed just at the corn or calluses and will not damage the surrounding tissue.
A topical anaesthetic may be applied to the area to minimise any discomfort.
This process will take around 15 minutes to complete.
Most people will only require one session to achieve the desired results.
This is a non-surgical procedure, so there is minimal recovery time. You will be able to resume your usual routine once treatment is finished.
Make sure that you take care of the treated area. Until new skin is fully formed, make sure you avoid baths or saunas.
You may need to clean the foot with an antiseptic solution in order to avoid any infection occurring.
At Centre for Surgery, we use Fotona’s Er:YAG laser. This allows for the corns and calluses to be targeted, while the surrounding skin and tissue remain unharmed.
The Er:YAG laser works on any skin type and colour.
This is a non-surgical procedure, so you will not be given an anaesthetic. Topical anaesthetic cream may be applied to the area prior to the laser treatment beginning.
You may feel some warmth while the laser is being used, but the laser treatment will not hurt.
Treatment will take around 15 minutes to complete.
Most people will not need to undertake multiple treatments to remove the corns and calluses.
As this is a non-surgical procedure, you will experience minimal downtime.
You will need to make sure you keep the feet clean. You will need to avoid any baths or spas until the new skin is fully formed.
