Do you wish to improve the appearance of acne and acne scarring? Improve the tone and texture of your skin? Boost collagen production? If this sounds like you, you may be interested in undergoing skin peels.
Centre for Surgery’s main treatment is the Obagi Blue Skin Peel, an aesthetic peel which can give visible results as soon as the next day, and involves minimal downtime.
Those who want to improve the appearance of their skin by removing fine lines, acne scars, sun damage, or blemishes may be interested in Obagi Blue Skin Peel.
Obagi Blue Skin Peel allows surgeons to remove layers of aged and damaged skin without having to go under the knife. The removed skin is then replaced by new cells, making the skin appear tighter and rejuvenated.
There are numerous benefits to undergoing Obagi Blue Skin Peel, including:
- Immediate results once the skin has finished peeling
- Can be applied to numerous areas of the body, including the face, neck, hands, arms and legs, to name a few.
- Multiple peel options available
Those whose skin has been damaged from too much sun exposure, who have particular types of acne, fine wrinkling around the eyes and mouth and those with pigmentation problems will benefit from chemical skin peels.
Obagi Blue Skin Peel is not the right procedure for those looking to correct saggy or loose skin, remove scars, correct enlarged pores or broken blood vessels.
Obagi Blue Skin Peel is a non-surgical procedure which will take between 30 to 45 minutes to complete.
The session will start with the skin being cleansed, which will remove any surface oils. Next, the skin peel will be applied all over your face. Within minutes, you will experience a warm sensation – rather like a mild sunburn on your skin. This lasts for a few minutes after which the skin will be cleaned and neutralised.
Following your skin peel treatment you will be given advice by your practitioner to optimise the benefits of the procedure and reduce the risk of complications and at this point, you will be able to go home. By the second or third day, your skin will start to feel tight and start shedding. Within five to seven days you will see smoother, pinker skin begin to emerge.
As with all procedures, you may experience some side effects. Some patients experience swelling, particularly around the eyes. However, this will only occur in the first few days and will subside quickly. Other patients may experience hyperpigmentation. You can protect your skin by applying high factor sunscreen on a daily basis.
As this is a non-surgical procedure, there is no recovery period. You will be able to return home the same day and resume your usual daily routine.
The amount of improvement you will see will depend on the initial condition of your skin. It is estimated that the maximum improvement achievable from this treatment is 50-85 per cent and although it is not possible to achieve 100 per cent improvement, most people consider their results quite dramatic. The mild peel generally needs to be repeated at monthly intervals to maintain an optimum result. Combining two treatments can improve results by 70 per cent.
