A scrotal uplift, otherwise known as a scrotoplasty, is a surgical procedure which removes the excess skin from the scrotum.
Over time, we lose skin laxity, which can result in discomfort when wearing certain clothing and can cause embarrassment. To boost your self-confidence, you may wish to undergo a scrotal uplift.
Anaesthesia type: Local Procedure time: 1 - 1.5 hours Recovery time: 3 daysAs we naturally age, we begin to lose the laxity in our skin. For men, this can cause the scrotal skin to stretch and lose elasticity. This can cause discomfort while exercising or wearing certain items of clothing. It can also cause other side effects such as excessive sweating and can cause rashes.
A scrotal uplift is an effective way to restore the natural appearance of the scrotum, restore your self-confidence and rid you of any side effects caused by the excess skin.
You will be a suitable candidate for this procedure if you have excess skin which you are wanting to remove from the scrotum.
This is a suitable procedure for those who have congenital conditions, which can cause the scrotum to double or bifid.
You may also be suitable for this procedure if you have had an injury on the scrotum. Those who have had a tumour removed may also be suitable candidates.
Before undergoing a scrotal uplift, you will have a consultation with one of the surgeons. They will be able to assess whether or not you are a suitable candidate for surgery.
Scrotal uplift is generally performed under a local anaesthetic. However, in some instances, you may wish to undertake the procedure with a general anaesthetic.
The procedure takes around 1 to 1.5 hours to complete.
The procedure involves removing the excess skin. Incisions will take place in the natural join of the scrotal halves. This will help the incision to be less noticeable.
Following the procedure, you will experience mild pain and discomfort for around three to five days. You may wish to take pain medication to help with any symptoms.
You will be given a support garment which you will need to wear day and night for two weeks. This will help to reduce any swelling and reduce movement.
The incision will take around 10 to 14 days to fully heal.
You will need to avoid any sexual activities for at least four weeks in order to avoid breaking open the wound.
You will be able to resume your usual daily routine after one week. However, you should avoid any strenuous physical activities for around six weeks.
It will take around six weeks before you will be able to see the final results.
