What are chemical peels and microdermabrasion?
Both the chemical peels and microdermabrasion are aimed to be a solution to damaged skin caused by sun damage, acne problems, pigmentation problems and even wrinkling around the mouth and eyes area can be resolved. The chemical peel treatment allows clearer healthier skin once the procedure is complete, there are many different types of chemical peels available which can be used to treat the different skin problems you may have. The procedure is taken place by firstly the skin being cleansed to remove surface oils that may be present and then the chemical peel is placed all over the face or just specific to the treatment areas depending on the skin problems. The effects will start to be felt after a few minutes, with a warm sensation being present on the treated skin. This will wear off after a few minutes leaving the skin cleansed and neutralised. After a few days the skin will become tight and start to shed, and after up to seven days after the procedure, the full effect will be seen.
Microdermabrasion is a skin regeneration procedure which removes dead and slow-growing cells by the use of minute sterilised crystals. This is a process of skin exfoliation which is able to reveal soft, new living skin cells which become more able to be active when topically applied nutrients after the treatment.
What could be potential side effects?
There can be side effects that occur after some cosmetic procedures. The side effects that can be possible after Dermabrasion procedure is redness of the face after the first 24 hours of the procedure but this will disappear after a few hours post-treatment. With some severe cases of skin problems, it may take a number of treatments to fully treat the skin issue. For the chemical peel procedure, the side effects that can occur are potential swelling which is most likely to be around the eyes for the first couple of days but will fade quickly. Other potential side effects could include hyperpigmentation but this could be treated by regular use of high factor sunscreen.
