What is mesotherapy?

Do you have skin that looks saggy or in need of a deep moisturise? Want to appear more youthful and have healthier skin? Don’t want to undergo an invasive surgical procedure to achieve results? Mesotherapy is the solution you’re looking for.

What is mesotherapy?

Mesotherapy is the ideal treatment for those who want to deeply moisturise the skin, improve sagging and stimulate collagen and elastin creation. Mesotherapy will leave you with radiant, youthful looking skin.

Mesotherapy is effective in treating a range of skin issues, including:

  • Cellulite
  • Pigmented skin
  • Wrinkles and lines
  • Loose skin

Mesotherapy can be done by applying a Dermapen to the treatment area. A Dermapen is a small, handheld device which resembles a pen. The end of the pen has small needles. This is then applied to the skin to stimulate collagen production. This promotes faster healing and rejuvenates the skin.

Can I have mesotherapy?

Mesotherapy is an appropriate treatment for people of any age, gender and skin type.

Mesotherapy is particularly effective for those who have:

  • Stretch marks
  • Cellulite
  • Dry skin
  • Sun damaged skin
  • Tight skin
  • Circles around the eyes

Mesotherapy is not suitable for those who are pregnant or breastfeeding, have skin infections, or have allergies to the treatment ingredients.

What happens during mesotherapy treatment?

Mesotherapy involves a series of mesothereputic injections which are applied to the skin. The ingredients include:

  • Vitamins A, B, C, E and K
  • Minerals
  • Coenzymes
  • Hyaluronic acid
  • Nucleic acid

Mesotherapy will restore hydration to the skin, leaving the patient looking younger and having smoother, brighter skin.

Mesotherapy involves applying the Dermapen to the treated area. This is held vertically over the skin, and the needles at the end of the pen are injected into the top layer of the skin. The motorised pen allows the needles to move rapidly back and forth, so the pen can glide over the skin. This will leave puncture holes in the skin which will temporarily open up the pores.

The mesotherapy process helps to start collagen production, which leaves you with tighter, more youthful looking skin.

You may need to undergo multiple treatments to achieve the desired results. Most patients will undergo two to three treatments.

What is the recovery period like?

Mesotherapy is a non-invasive treatment, so there will be no downtime.

You may be able to notice results straight away. However, most people will have to undergo multiple treatments before noticing the desired results.

You may notice some swelling, bruising or pain at the site of the injection, but this will subside.

It is recommended to avoid sun exposure and use a high-grade sunscreen after treatment.

Are you wishing to undergo mesotherapy? This is a non-surgical treatment which Centre for Surgery currently offers. Contact us today to find out more or to book a consultation with one of our surgeons.
