The surgeon will first inject a local anaesthetic to eliminate any pain or discomfort during the procedure. Your surgeon will then repair the split earlobe by surgical removal of the skin around the split earlobe. This helps to create an appropriate surface that should heal and seal the split. The surgeon may close off any earlobe piercing as part of the procedure. It takes approximately six weeks for full healing after earlobe surgery. If you wish, you may have your ears pierced after this time, although we recommend avoiding the exact position where a previous split occurred.

You can return to your normal daily activities immediately after the procedure, provided there is no impact on your earlobe repair.
