How the Centre for Surgery website uses cookies and similar technologies, which ones need your consent, and how to accept, reject or change your choices at any time.
At a glance
This cookie policy explains how M Sarwar Limited, trading as Centre for Surgery, uses cookies and similar technologies on centreforsurgery.com, which ones need your consent, and how to accept, refuse or change your choices. It sits alongside our privacy policy, which explains how we use personal information more generally. We are registered with the Information Commissioner’s Office, registration number ZA752514.
Cookies are small text files that a website saves on your computer, phone or tablet when you visit it. Similar technologies, such as your browser’s local storage, work in a comparable way. They let a website remember things, such as the choices you have made, and help website owners understand how their site is used.
Cookies set by the website you are visiting are first-party cookies. Cookies set by another company, such as Google, are third-party cookies. Some last only until you close your browser (session cookies); others stay on your device for a set time (persistent cookies).
When you first visit our website, we ask whether you are happy for us to use analytics and advertising cookies. You can:
Until you make a choice, analytics and advertising cookies stay off. You can change your mind at any time using the Cookie preferences link at the bottom of every page. If you switch analytics or advertising cookies off after accepting them, we delete the Google cookies saved under our website’s address straight away.
We remember your choice for 12 months, then ask you again. We also ask again if we change the cookies we use in a way that affects your choice.
You can also block or delete cookies in your browser settings. If you block all cookies, parts of our website, such as our enquiry forms, may not work properly. You can control how Google uses information to personalise adverts in your Google ad settings ↗.
These are always on, because our website cannot work properly or securely without them, so the law does not require your consent.
| Name | Provider | What it does | How long it lasts |
|---|---|---|---|
| cfs_consent | Centre for Surgery | Remembers your cookie choices, so we do not ask you on every page | 12 months |
| _GRECAPTCHA | Google (reCAPTCHA) | Checks that a real person, not an automated program, is using our forms, to keep them free of spam | 6 months |
| _grecaptcha (stored in your browser) | Google (reCAPTCHA) | Supports the same spam check | Until you clear your browser’s storage |
These are only used if you switch them on. They help us understand how people find and use our website, such as which pages are visited most, so we can improve it. They are provided by Google Analytics and do not tell us who you are.
| Name | Provider | What it does | How long it lasts |
|---|---|---|---|
| _ga | Google Analytics | Tells one visitor apart from another, so visits can be counted | Up to 2 years |
| _ga_48EM6NGZJZ | Google Analytics | Keeps track of your current visit | Up to 2 years |
These are only used if you switch them on. They let Google measure how well our adverts work, for example whether someone who clicked one of our adverts later contacted us, and show you Centre for Surgery adverts on other websites. They can record that you visited pages about a particular treatment, which may suggest an interest in it, so we only use them with your consent.
| Name | Provider | What it does | How long it lasts |
|---|---|---|---|
| _gcl_au | Google Ads | Measures how our adverts perform by linking visits to adverts | 90 days |
| _gcl_aw | Google Ads | Records the advert you clicked to reach our website | 90 days |
| _gcl_ls (stored in your browser) | Google Ads | Stores the same advert information in your browser | Until it expires or you clear your browser’s storage |
| Google forwarding number (stored in your browser) | Google Ads | If you arrive from one of our adverts, lets Google show a forwarding phone number so that we can tell a call came from that advert | Until it expires, as set by Google |
| IDE | Google (doubleclick.net) | Used by Google to show and measure adverts across websites | 13 months |
| test_cookie | Google (doubleclick.net) | Checks whether your browser accepts cookies | 15 minutes |
Videos on our website are hosted by YouTube. They are only loaded from YouTube when you press play, using YouTube’s privacy-enhanced mode. When you play a video, YouTube may store information on your device to play it and count views, under Google’s own privacy policy.
We use Google Consent Mode, which tells Google’s tools whether you have accepted analytics and advertising cookies. If you have not, they do not save or read cookies on your device. They may still send Google limited information that does not use cookies, such as the fact that a page was viewed and basic details about your browser and device, which Google uses in an aggregated way to estimate how our website and adverts perform. If you arrive from one of our adverts without accepting advertising cookies, information about the advert you clicked may be carried in the page address as you move around our website, so that the advert can be measured without cookies.
Information collected through analytics and advertising cookies is processed by Google, which may store it outside the UK, including in the United States. Section 9 of our privacy policy explains how information sent outside the UK is protected. You can read how Google uses information from websites that use its services at policies.google.com ↗. We never sell your information.
When you make or change a choice, we keep a record of it so that we can show what you agreed to: a random reference number that does not identify you, the date and time, your choices, the version of this policy and the page you were on. We keep these records for two years.
We update this policy when the cookies we use change. The date at the top of this page shows when it last changed. If a change affects the choices you have made, we will ask you again.
If you have questions about our use of cookies, contact our Data Protection Officer by email at contact@centreforsurgery.com (please put “Cookies” in the subject line), call 020 7993 4849, or write to Data Protection Officer, Centre for Surgery, 95–97 Baker Street, London W1U 6RN. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office ↗.
Yes. A few strictly necessary cookies keep our website working and secure. Analytics and advertising cookies from Google are only used if you accept them, and they stay off until you do.
Use the Cookie preferences link at the bottom of any page. You can switch analytics and advertising cookies on or off separately, and your new choice applies straight away.
Our website works as normal, including our enquiry forms. We will not use analytics or advertising cookies, so your visit is not measured with Google Analytics cookies and is not used to show you our adverts.
Only if you accept advertising cookies. If you do, Google may show you Centre for Surgery adverts on other websites based on the pages you visited on ours, and measure whether our adverts led to an enquiry.
It depends on the cookie, from 15 minutes to up to 2 years. We remember your cookie choice for 12 months. The tables in section 4 list how long each cookie lasts.
