Chin and neck liposuction — also called chin lipo, submental liposuction or double chin liposuction — starts from £3,500 at Centre for Surgery.
We can’t quote you accurately from a web page, and we would rather say so. What you pay depends on how much fat is present, your skin quality, the anaesthetic used, and — most importantly — whether liposuction alone is actually the right operation for you. For a good number of people it isn’t, and no price on this page is meaningful until that question is settled.
If you would like a realistic figure before paying for a consultation, phone us on 020 7993 4849 and describe what is bothering you.
The question that decides your price
Before cost, resolve this: is your concern fat, skin, or muscle? They need different operations at very different prices, and the wrong procedure is poor value at any figure.
At consultation your surgeon assesses three separate things — the fat pad beneath the chin, the elasticity of the skin, and the platysma muscle.
- Fat, with good skin elasticity. Liposuction alone is the right procedure. This is the entry point, and typically people under about 45.
- Fat with mild skin laxity. Adding skin tightening is usually the answer — Argo Plasma for milder laxity, or FaceTite radiofrequency where more is needed.
- An apparently weak chin. Sometimes what looks like a double chin is partly a recessed chin — chin augmentation addresses the projection that liposuction cannot.
- Loose skin or visible vertical cords. A mini or full neck lift is required. Liposuction alone here undercorrects and disappoints — not because it failed, but because it was the wrong operation.

How the anaesthetic affects your price
Chin and neck liposuction is one of the few procedures that can often be performed under local anaesthetic with sedation, which is why it sits at the lower end of surgical pricing. Where the case is combined with other work, or where you would prefer to be asleep, TIVA (Total Intravenous Anaesthesia) with a consultant anaesthetist is used instead, which costs more. Your written quotation states which applies.

Which line applies to you is a clinical question, not a shopping decision — and it is settled by examination rather than by preference.
A quote noticeably below these figures is worth questioning. It usually means items have been excluded — theatre fees, anaesthetic, the garment, or follow-up — or that the facility is not a regulated private hospital. Always ask for an itemised, all-inclusive quote so you are comparing like with like.
Why we don’t use VASER under the chin — and what we use instead
VASER ultrasound-assisted liposuction is used routinely elsewhere on the body at Centre for Surgery, at no additional cost, wherever fibrous fat makes it the better tool. It is not used for chin and neck liposuction here.
The reason is anatomical. VASER works by delivering ultrasound energy to emulsify fat before removal, and that energy produces heat. Under the chin, the skin is thin, the fat layer is shallow, and the marginal mandibular branch of the facial nerve runs superficially through the region — the nerve that controls the lower lip. There is very little tissue between the cannula and structures you cannot afford to injure. Thermal injury here risks skin burn, contour irregularity in an area that cannot be hidden, and in the worst case a weakened lower lip on one side. The margin for error is far smaller than on the abdomen or flanks, and the benefit of emulsifying fat that is not especially fibrous to begin with does not justify it.
We use MicroAire® power-assisted liposuction instead — mechanical rather than thermal, with a fine cannula and no heat delivered to the tissue. It is the appropriate tool for this region.
Argo Plasma — the skin tightening option that is available
Argo Plasma applies helium plasma energy beneath the skin to produce immediate collagen contraction and ongoing tightening as the tissue remodels over the following months. It is applied through the same small incisions used for the liposuction, so it adds no additional scarring.
It is a premium add-on because it is additional equipment, additional operative time and additional skill — not something bundled into every case. It sits below FaceTite because the plasma application is quicker than FaceTite’s staged radiofrequency heating with continuous internal and external temperature monitoring.
Which one, or neither, is a clinical decision. With genuinely good skin elasticity, neither is needed and liposuction alone will retract well — paying for tightening you do not need is not good value. With mild laxity, Argo Plasma is usually sufficient. With more established laxity, FaceTite delivers more. Where the skin will not retract at all, or there are visible platysmal cords, no energy device will substitute for a neck lift.

What else moves the price
- Whether anything is combined. The single biggest factor — adding Argo Plasma, FaceTite, chin augmentation or a neck lift increases the total but shares one anaesthetic and one recovery.
- The anaesthetic. Local with sedation sits lower than TIVA.
- Extent and complexity. How much fat is present, and whether lateral neck fullness is also being treated.
- Primary or revision. Correcting a previous liposuction result is more complex and is quoted individually.
- Skin quality. The factor that most often moves someone from the first line of the table to a lower one.

Is chin liposuction worth it?
For well-selected candidates — localised submental fat, good skin elasticity, realistic expectations and stable weight — chin liposuction delivers reliably. Fat cells removed are gone permanently, so the improvement doesn’t need maintaining, unlike repeated rounds of fat-dissolving injections.
Compared with non-surgical fat-dissolving treatment, liposuction produces a more predictable, more refined result in a single procedure for most people with meaningful submental fat. Injections can suit those with a very small amount of fat who prefer to avoid surgery, but typically require several sessions and produce more modest change.
It is not the right answer for everyone. Where the real issue is loose skin or platysmal banding, liposuction alone will disappoint. The value comes from having the right procedure for your anatomy, not the cheapest one.
How to choose a surgeon — not just on price
Chin and neck liposuction looks simple, but the result depends on case selection and refined technique. Whoever you choose, make sure they:
- Are on the GMC Specialist Register for plastic surgery
- Are members of BAPRAS or BAAPS
- Operate in a CQC-regulated facility
- Will tell you honestly if a neck lift, chin augmentation, or no surgery at all would serve you better
Why choose Centre for Surgery?
- GMC-registered plastic surgeons — we don’t use non-specialist cosmetic doctors for facial or neck surgery.
- CQC-regulated facility at 95-97 Baker Street, rated Good overall.
- MicroAire® power-assisted liposuction — gentler, more controlled fat removal with less bruising.
- Local anaesthetic with sedation, or TIVA as clinically appropriate.
- Honest case selection — if your anatomy needs a neck lift, chin augmentation, or simply weight loss and reassessment, we will say so.
- Two-week cooling-off period as standard, and finance.

Chin liposuction cost FAQs
How much does chin liposuction cost in London?
Standalone chin and neck liposuction starts from £3,500. Combined options — with Argo Plasma or FaceTite skin tightening, chin augmentation or a neck lift — start higher, as set out in the table above. Your exact figure is confirmed after examination at consultation, because it depends on which procedure is actually right for you.
Why can’t you just tell me the price?
The honest answer depends on whether your concern is fat, skin or muscle, and that can only be assessed in person. Someone needing liposuction alone and someone needing a neck lift both arrive describing a double chin. Publishing one fixed figure would be easier for us and misleading for you.
Does the anaesthetic change the price?
Yes. Standalone cases can often be performed under local anaesthetic with sedation, which sits at the lower end. Combined procedures, or cases where you would prefer to be asleep, use TIVA with a consultant anaesthetist, which costs more.
Do I need chin liposuction or a neck lift?
Liposuction alone suits people whose main concern is excess submental fat with good skin elasticity and no platysmal banding. A neck lift becomes the right procedure where there is loose skin that will not retract, or visible vertical cords. Your surgeon assesses the fat, skin and muscle separately at consultation.
Do you use VASER for chin liposuction?
No. VASER is used elsewhere on the body at Centre for Surgery, at no extra cost, but not under the chin. VASER emulsifies fat using ultrasound energy, which generates heat — and under the chin the skin is thin, the fat layer shallow, and the marginal mandibular branch of the facial nerve runs superficially through the region. Thermal injury there risks skin burn, visible contour irregularity, or a weakened lower lip. We use MicroAire® power-assisted liposuction instead, which is mechanical rather than thermal and is the appropriate tool for this area.
How much does Argo Plasma cost with chin liposuction?
Chin and neck liposuction with Argo Plasma skin tightening starts from £4,500, against £3,500 for liposuction alone — a £1,000 premium add-on. Argo Plasma delivers helium plasma energy beneath the skin through the same small incisions used for the liposuction, producing immediate collagen contraction and continued tightening as the tissue remodels. It sits below FaceTite because the plasma application is quicker than FaceTite’s staged radiofrequency heating with continuous temperature monitoring. It is only worth adding where there is genuine mild skin laxity — with good elasticity the skin retracts well on its own and neither device is needed.
Why is chin liposuction cheaper than a neck lift?
Shorter operating time, often local anaesthetic rather than TIVA, and less aftercare. A neck lift involves tightening the platysma muscle and repositioning skin — more surgery, and a different problem being treated.
Is chin liposuction covered by the NHS or insurance?
No. It is a cosmetic procedure, funded privately, though finance is available.
What’s included in the price?
Your surgeon’s fee, theatre time at our CQC-regulated Baker Street facility, MicroAire® power-assisted liposuction, pre-operative assessment, consultations, same-day discharge, your surgeon’s direct number for the first 24 hours, and follow-up appointments. The compression garment is not included and is purchased separately before surgery, worn for six weeks. Where TIVA is used, the consultant anaesthetist’s fee is included.
How long do results last?
Fat cells removed are gone permanently, so results are long-lasting provided weight remains stable. It doesn’t need ongoing maintenance, so it often represents better long-term value than repeated fat-dissolving injection courses for people with meaningful submental fat.
Is liposuction or fat-dissolving injection cheaper overall?
A single injection session costs less than surgery, but several are usually needed and results are more modest. For anyone with more than a minimal amount of fat, liposuction typically delivers better, longer-lasting results in one procedure. The right choice depends on how much fat you have and your skin quality.
How much does revision chin liposuction cost?
Revision work is more complex than a first procedure and is priced individually depending on what needs correcting. If you have had an unsatisfactory result elsewhere, a consultation will establish what can be improved and what it would involve.
