Whether you want larger, smaller, lifted or more even breasts, or a new implant after an old one, the right operation depends on your breast tissue, your skin and your chest wall, from breast augmentation and the breast lift to breast reduction and implant replacement.
Breast augmentation uses silicone implants to enlarge the breasts, with the size and profile chosen to suit your frame. Choose it if you want a noticeable increase and more upper fullness.
A mini boob job uses small implants for a subtle increase that suits a slim or athletic build. Choose it if you want more shape without an obviously larger bust.
Breast implant removal takes implants out with the surrounding capsule removed where needed, and the breasts reshaped with a lift or your own fat. Choose it if you no longer want implants.
Implant replacement and revision swaps old or problem implants for new ones and corrects issues like hardening, rupture or implants that have moved. Choose it if you want to keep implants but need them changed.
Fat transfer breast augmentation enlarges the breasts with your own fat instead of implants, slimming the area it is taken from. Choose it if a modest increase of around a cup or less suits you.
Hybrid breast augmentation combines an implant with a layer of your own fat over it, softening the upper breast. Choose it if you are slim and want implant volume with a softer, more natural result.
A breast lift raises sagging breasts and moves the nipple back to a youthful height, tightening the skin around them. Choose it if your breasts have dropped after pregnancy, weight loss or with age.
Breast lift with auto-augmentation reuses tissue from the lower breast to fill out the top while lifting it. Choose it after implant removal, or for fullness with no implant at all.
A mini breast lift raises a nipple that has dropped slightly, using a single scar that circles the areola. Choose it if sagging is mild; it pairs well with implants.
Breast reduction makes large, heavy breasts smaller and lifts them at the same time, relieving the aches and grooved shoulders they cause. Choose it if breast size limits comfort, exercise or clothing.
Liposuction breast reduction slims fatty breasts through tiny incisions, with no lollipop or anchor scars. Choose it if your breasts are mostly fat, sit fairly high and you want a smaller, not reshaped, result.
Accessory breast tissue removal clears a lump of true breast gland in the armpit that diet, exercise and liposuction cannot shift. Choose it if armpit fullness swells or aches around your period.
Inverted nipple correction frees a nipple that is pulled inwards so it stays out, in a short procedure. Choose it if one or both nipples stay turned in; milder cases can keep breastfeeding possible.
Nipple reduction shortens or narrows nipples that are long, wide or stick out through clothing, for women and men. Choose it if nipple size bothers you, alone or alongside other breast surgery.
Areola reduction makes large or uneven areolas smaller and more even, with the scar following the areola’s border. Choose it if the areola, not the nipple or breast, is what you want to change.
Breast asymmetry correction treats each breast on its own terms, enlarging, reducing or lifting one or both so they match more closely. Choose it if the difference between your breasts is noticeable in clothes.
Tuberous breast correction reshapes breasts that developed narrow, tight at the base and puffy at the areola, releasing the tissue and adding volume. Choose it if your breasts are this shape, not just small.
Chest wall implants restore a normal chest contour with a one-off implant designed for your body, whether the breastbone is sunken or one side is underdeveloped. Start here to compare the two.
Pectus excavatum implant surgery fills a sunken breastbone with a custom implant, avoiding the bar and rib operations used to reshape the chest itself. Choose it if appearance, not breathing, is your concern.
Poland syndrome implant surgery rebuilds the missing muscle bulk on one side of the chest with a custom implant mirrored from your other side. Choose it for a balanced chest without a back scar.

Cosmetic breast surgery changes four things: size, shape, the position of the breast and nipple on the chest, and symmetry. Reconstructive breast and chest surgery corrects differences that develop at puberty, such as tuberous breasts, or that sit in the chest wall itself. Which procedure suits you depends on what has changed and why:
Not during pregnancy or while you are breastfeeding. We ask you to wait at least three months after you have completely stopped breastfeeding, ideally around six, with milk production fully stopped, and six months after the birth if you did not breastfeed. Breast size and shape keep changing until then, so operating earlier means planning around a breast that has not settled. If you plan to have more children, it is usually worth waiting, because a later pregnancy can change the result. Our guide to breast changes in pregnancy explains what happens and why.
Often, yes. A lift is frequently combined with implants when the breast has both dropped and lost volume, and every breast reduction lifts the breast as part of the operation. After children, breast surgery is often paired with a tummy tuck as a mummy makeover. Your surgeon will tell you whether one operation or two stages gives the safer and more predictable result.
The surgeon who assesses you at consultation is the surgeon who operates. Where breast implants are used, we use Silimed implants, backed by a 10-year warranty covering rupture and grade III to IV capsular contracture. Custom chest wall implant surgery is performed by Professor Ertan Erel and Mr Metin Nizamoglu. Operations take place under TIVA or local anaesthetic with sedation, depending on the procedure, at our Baker Street hospital, rated Good overall by the Care Quality Commission.
