Real mummy makeover (mommy makeover) results from patients treated at our Baker Street day surgery facility. Jump to Mummy Makeover or Tummy Tuck and Muscle Repair.
Results vary from patient to patient. All photos are published with written patient consent and are examples of outcomes achieved at Centre for Surgery, not guaranteed results. After photos were taken at least six months after surgery unless the caption says otherwise. No photograph has been retouched or filtered; some are cropped or masked only to protect patient privacy. Full disclaimer below, and how to read these photos — including why a single photograph can represent four different operations.
Mummy Makeover — Before & After
16 photographs
A mummy makeover is not one operation. It is a combination chosen for the individual patient, most often a tummy tuck together with breast surgery — a lift, an augmentation, a reduction, or a lift combined with implants — with or without liposuction. Which combination a patient had determines her scars, her recovery and her cost, and it is the one thing a before and after photograph does not reveal.
Tummy Tuck and Muscle Repair — Before & After

Pregnancy separates the abdominal muscles down the midline. This is diastasis recti, and no amount of exercise closes it, because the muscles are not weak — they are apart. Repairing the separation is a distinct step within a tummy tuck and is often the reason a post-pregnancy abdomen will not flatten without surgery. The photographs below show the abdominal component alone. More abdominal cases appear in our tummy tuck gallery.

About These Mummy Makeover Photos
The mummy makeover photos above are presented for educational purposes only and should be interpreted subjectively. They do not represent the opinion or view of any patient regarding their result, and they are not intended to suggest the result that any other patient may achieve. No two patients are alike, and no two results are necessarily alike. Only a personal consultation with your surgeon can provide you with a reasonable expectation of the results you may achieve from any specific procedure. We only publish photographs of patients who have given full written consent for their images to be used.
How to Read Mummy Makeover Before and After Photos
Every other gallery on this site shows one operation. This one shows several at once, which makes it the hardest gallery on the internet to read honestly — and the easiest to be misled by.
One photograph, four possible operations
A breast that sits higher in the after photograph may have been lifted. It may have been lifted and given an implant. It may have been reduced. It may have received an implant alone. These are four different operations with four different scars, four different recoveries and four different prices, and they can look similar in a photograph taken from the front. The same is true below the waist: a flat abdomen may be a tummy tuck, or a tummy tuck with liposuction of the flanks. Ask which procedures a photograph represents before you use it as a benchmark for yourself.
The scars are the part you cannot see
A tummy tuck leaves a permanent scar running from hip to hip, and a second scar around a repositioned navel. A breast lift leaves a scar around the areola and usually down the front of the breast, sometimes with a further scar in the fold beneath it. These scars fade; they do not disappear. Photography that crops low, angles away, or shoots from above is not showing you the trade you are actually being offered. Judge a gallery by whether it shows you the scar.
Muscle repair does not look like anything
Repairing separated abdominal muscles changes the profile of the abdomen without leaving any visible sign of itself. In a photograph, an abdomen flattened by muscle repair and an abdomen flattened by aggressive liposuction can be indistinguishable — but only one of them has addressed the reason it was protruding.
Whether she is having more children
This is the single fact that determines whether the result in the photograph lasts, and it is entirely absent from the photograph. A further pregnancy stretches repaired muscle and tightened skin again. Read whether you should have a mummy makeover if you plan to have more children before you plan surgery around a gallery.
The before photograph is somebody else’s pregnancy
Post-pregnancy bodies differ by the number of pregnancies, by how much weight was gained and lost, by how much the skin recoiled, and by where the fat settled. If the before photograph shows a body unlike yours, the after photograph is not a preview of yours.
What Stage of Healing You’re Looking At
A mummy makeover combines procedures that heal on different timetables, and the photograph is a snapshot of whichever one is slowest.
The abdomen is swollen and firm for weeks. Drains may be used. Patients stand and walk with a slight forward stoop for the first week or two because the abdominal skin has been tightened, and full upright posture returns gradually. Abdominal swelling settles substantially over three months and continues to refine for six to twelve.
Breasts follow their own course. After a lift or an augmentation the tissue is high and firm at first and settles over the following three to six months. A breast photographed at four weeks does not look like the same breast at six months.
Scars are red or pink for months, then fade through pale pink to white over roughly twelve to eighteen months, and their final quality depends on your skin more than on anybody’s technique. A photograph taken at three months shows an honest result and an unfinished scar. A photograph at a year shows both, finished. Where a gallery does not state the interval, it is asking you to assume the best one.
The after photographs in this gallery were taken at least six months after surgery, unless the caption says otherwise. For what to expect at each stage before then, see our mummy makeover recovery guide.
What These Photographs Cannot Show You
There is a limit to what any gallery can tell you, and a clinic that pretends otherwise is selling rather than informing.
- Which operations were performed. The defining limitation of this gallery, and of every mummy makeover gallery anywhere.
- The scars. Their length, their position, and how they matured. They are permanent and they are the price of the result.
- Whether the abdominal muscles were repaired. Invisible in a photograph, decisive in the outcome.
- Stretch marks. Skin below the navel is removed, and the marks on it go with it. Marks above the navel remain. We have written separately on what a mummy makeover does and does not do to stretch marks.
- Sensation. Numbness across the lower abdomen is normal for months and can be permanent in patches. Nipple sensation may change after breast surgery.
- Breastfeeding. Breast surgery can affect the ability to breastfeed. No photograph addresses this.
- A later pregnancy, or a later weight change. Either can undo what the photograph shows.
- Whether revision was needed. Revisions are rarely photographed and never published.
None of this is a reason to distrust before and after photographs. It is a reason to treat them as the beginning of a conversation with a surgeon rather than the end of one. Our guide to how to choose a mummy makeover surgeon sets out what that conversation should cover.
Mummy Makeover Results: Common Questions
What does a mummy makeover include?
There is no fixed package. A mummy makeover usually combines a tummy tuck, often with repair of separated abdominal muscles, and breast surgery: a lift, an augmentation, a reduction or a lift with implants. Liposuction is often added. The combination is planned around the changes pregnancy has made to your body.
How long after having a baby can I have a mummy makeover?
We recommend waiting at least six months after the birth if you are not breastfeeding. If you are, wait at least three months after you have completely stopped, and ideally around six, so the breasts have settled. It is also best to be at a stable weight and to have finished having children.
How painful is a tummy tuck?
The abdomen is sore and tight for the first one to two weeks, particularly if the muscles have been repaired, and you walk slightly bent at first. Our post-operative pain audits show that combining TIVA with local anaesthetic keeps pain manageable, and many patients need little or no strong opioid pain relief.
Mummy Makeover (Mommy Makeover) at Centre for Surgery
Centre for Surgery is a private hospital for plastic and cosmetic surgery on Baker Street in Marylebone, London, registered with and independently inspected by the Care Quality Commission. Our plastic surgeons perform mummy makeover (also known as mommy makeover) surgery at our Baker Street day surgery facility, combining abdominal and breast procedures according to what each patient actually needs.
Personalised Treatment Plans
No two mummy makeovers are the same, because every woman’s body changes differently after pregnancy and childbirth. At your consultation your surgeon will assess your areas of concern and design a treatment plan around your specific goals — restoring breast volume and position, flattening and tightening the abdomen, repairing separated muscle, or recontouring the waist and hips. Part of that conversation is which procedures should not be combined for you.
Combined Procedures, Single Recovery
Performing several procedures in one session means one anaesthetic, one recovery period and one block of time away from family life, and it is generally less expensive than the same operations booked separately. It also means a longer operation and a more demanding recovery than any one of those procedures alone. Whether combining is right for you depends on your health, your BMI, and the extent of the surgery proposed — read more on the safety of combined procedures. Your surgeon will tell you if it is not appropriate.
Aftercare and Follow-Up
You have your surgeon’s direct number for the first 24 hours after surgery, and you will have access to your surgeon and care team throughout your recovery. All follow-up appointments are included, and our scar management programme supports scar maturation over the first year. Every plastic surgeon on our team is GMC-registered and independently verifiable on the General Medical Council register.
