Technique: liposuction alone is the most straightforward. Surgical skin excision, or a combination of liposuction and excision, is more involved.
Standalone or combined: as an add-on to a tummy tuck it’s from £500 because the anaesthetic, theatre, and recovery are shared; as a standalone procedure it carries its own facility and anaesthetic costs.
Anaesthetic: a standalone mons lift can often be done under local anaesthetic, which keeps the cost down. Choosing TIVA (being fully asleep) adds the anaesthetist and theatre time.

Liposuction only, skin excision, or both — which do I need?

This is the main thing that decides your technique, and it comes down to fat versus loose skin:

Mostly fat, good skin tone: Liposuction alone removes the fat and the skin retracts over the flatter contour.
Loose, hanging skin (often after weight loss): liposuction won’t tighten skin that’s lost its elasticity — surgical skin excision is needed.
Both fat and loose skin: a combined approach (liposuction then excision) gives the most complete result.

Yes, relatively. After a tummy tuck flattens the abdomen, the mons can look more prominent by comparison, so it’s commonly addressed at the same session. Is a mons lift the answer to a “FUPA”?

“FUPA” — fat upper pubic area — is the everyday term for a prominent mons pubis. Where it’s stubborn fat that hasn’t shifted with diet and exercise, mons liposuction is usually the answer; where there’s loose skin as well (common after pregnancy or significant weight loss), skin excision or a combined procedure is needed. Is a mons lift available on the NHS?

Mons pubis reduction is normally classed as cosmetic and isn’t NHS-funded, and private medical insurance doesn’t generally cover it. In specific cases where a significant skin overhang causes documented functional problems — recurrent skin infections or irritation in the fold that hasn’t responded to other treatment — NHS funding may be considered on clinical grounds, subject to local policies.
