Morpheus8 Body is a non-surgical skin tightening, fat remodelling and texture refinement treatment for areas of the body where loose skin, surface irregularities or stubborn small fat pockets have developed. The same fractional radiofrequency microneedling technology used on the face is delivered through a dedicated body handpiece with longer needles (up to 7mm) and higher energy settings — calibrated for the thicker skin and deeper subcutaneous layers of body anatomy.
For patients with mild to moderate body skin laxity — after pregnancy, after weight loss, or simply with age — Morpheus8 Body offers a genuine alternative to surgical options without the recovery, scarring or anaesthetic burden. This guide covers what Morpheus8 Body treats, how the treatment works, what results look like and how it sits relative to other body contouring options at Centre for Surgery’s CQC-regulated Baker Street private hospital.
How Morpheus8 Body works
Morpheus8 Body uses a specialised handpiece with 40 microneedles that penetrate the skin at depths up to 7mm — substantially deeper than facial Morpheus8 handpieces. The needles deliver radiofrequency (RF) energy at depth, where it generates controlled thermal injury in both the deeper dermis and the underlying subcutaneous fat layer.
Three things happen as a result:
- Dermal collagen remodelling — fibroblasts respond to the controlled thermal injury by producing new collagen and elastin, gradually thickening and firming the skin over 8–12 weeks
- Immediate tissue contraction — RF heat causes existing collagen fibres to shorten, producing measurable tightening within days
- Subcutaneous fat remodelling — at the deepest settings, energy targets small fat pockets, breaking down adipocytes that the body then clears over the following weeks
This combination of skin tightening plus fat remodelling in one treatment is what distinguishes Morpheus8 Body from most other non-surgical body treatments. Surface-only treatments don’t reach the fat layer; fat-reduction treatments alone don’t address skin laxity. Morpheus8 Body addresses both in the same protocol.
The treatment is safe across all Fitzpatrick skin types because the insulated needles deliver RF heat at depth without thermal damage to the epidermis — meaning darker skin types can be treated without the pigmentation risks of conventional laser body treatments.
What does Morpheus8 Body treat?
The treatment is indicated for several body concerns:
- Loose skin on the abdomen — after pregnancy, weight loss or with age
- Stretch marks — newer stretch marks respond better than older silver ones, but both improve
- Surgical scars — caesarean scars, abdominal surgery scars, and traumatic scars across the body
- Cellulite — Morpheus8 addresses the structural component (skin laxity and fibrous septae) rather than just the appearance
- Upper arm laxity — “bingo wings” with mild-to-moderate skin excess
- Thigh laxity — inner thigh and lower thigh sagging
- Bra-roll and back fat areas — combined laxity and fat pockets
- Knees — crepey skin above the patella
- Buttocks — lower buttock laxity
- Stubborn small fat pockets — abdominal, flank, thigh and arm fat that hasn’t responded to diet and exercise
What Morpheus8 Body doesn’t treat well: significant skin excess (after major weight loss, post-multiple pregnancies, severe ageing), large-volume fat reduction (Morpheus8 addresses small pockets, not substantial fat volume), or muscle separation (which needs surgical correction). For more on body areas the treatment can address, see our guide on what areas of the body Morpheus8 can treat.
Who is suitable for Morpheus8 Body?
You’re likely to benefit from Morpheus8 Body if you:
- Have mild to moderate skin laxity in one or more body areas
- Want non-surgical results with minimal downtime
- Are in good general health, near your goal weight, and not pregnant or breastfeeding
- Have stretch marks, surgical scars or cellulite that hasn’t responded to creams or other treatments
- Want to address skin texture and quality alongside any tightening
- Have realistic expectations about non-surgical body treatment
You may need surgical alternatives if you have substantial loose skin from major weight loss, significant abdominal skin excess after pregnancy, or pronounced upper-arm or thigh excess. We’ll tell you honestly at consultation if Morpheus8 Body won’t deliver the result you’re hoping for.
Contraindications include active skin infection in the treatment area, recent isotretinoin (within 6 months), pregnancy, breastfeeding, history of keloid scarring, pacemaker or other implanted electronic devices, and certain immune conditions. A thorough medical history at consultation establishes suitability.
What happens during a Morpheus8 Body session?
Preparation
You arrive at Baker Street with clean skin in the treatment area, no creams or moisturisers applied. The clinician examines and marks the treatment zones. A strong topical anaesthetic cream is applied and left in place for 45–60 minutes. For larger body areas or deeper settings, local anaesthetic injections may be added to ensure full comfort during treatment. Some patients also benefit from Entonox (laughing gas) during the session.
The treatment
Once numbing is complete, the Morpheus8 Body handpiece is applied to the treatment zone in methodical overlapping passes. The clinician adjusts the depth and energy level depending on what’s being targeted in each pass — superficial for surface texture, mid-depth for skin tightening, deepest for fat remodelling. The sensation during treatment is a series of warm prickling impulses, well-tolerated with proper numbing but not pleasant.
A typical body session takes 45–90 minutes of active treatment, depending on the area. Abdomen sessions usually run longer than upper arm or knee sessions.
Immediately after
The treated skin is warm, visibly red, and has the characteristic grid pattern of the handpiece for the first few hours. Small pinpoint bleeding is normal. The clinician applies a soothing serum and gives detailed aftercare instructions. You can leave the clinic immediately, though we recommend avoiding driving directly if Entonox or local anaesthesia has been used.
How long does Morpheus8 Body recovery take?
Body recovery is typically slightly longer than face recovery due to deeper treatment depth and larger surface area. The standard timeline:
- 0–24 hours — significant redness and mild swelling; skin feels warm and tight. Use only fragrance-free cleanser and prescribed soothing balm.
- 24–72 hours — redness fades to pink. Mild swelling continues, particularly on the abdomen and thighs. Pinpoint scabbing may appear and is part of normal healing.
- Days 3–7 — most patients are comfortable resuming work and light activity. Avoid heavy exercise and heat exposure (saunas, hot baths).
- Week 2 — full surface healing. Light exercise can resume. Strict daily SPF 50 essential on any exposed area.
- Beyond week 2 — full activity resumes. Collagen remodelling continues over the following months.
For the detailed recovery walk-through, see how long it takes to heal from Morpheus8.
What results to expect from Morpheus8 Body
Results from Morpheus8 Body develop gradually over the months following treatment, as collagen renewal consolidates and the body clears remodelled fat tissue.
- Weeks 1–2 — initial tightening visible as immediate collagen contraction takes effect
- Weeks 3–6 — surface texture improvements visible, including stretch mark and scar softening
- Months 2–3 — meaningful skin tightening becomes apparent; fat pocket reduction begins to show
- Months 3–6 — peak result; sustained collagen renewal continues
- Beyond 6 months — result plateaus; annual maintenance sessions sustain it
Most patients see clear visible improvement after a course of 3–4 sessions. Results typically last 12–18 months without maintenance, and significantly longer with annual top-up sessions. The body skin remodelling is durable when supported by stable weight, good general health, and consistent skincare.
How many Morpheus8 Body sessions will I need?
Body protocols typically need 3–4 sessions spaced 4–6 weeks apart for optimal results — more than the 3-session standard for facial treatment. This is because body skin is thicker, collagen response is slower, and the larger surface area often combines multiple concerns.
Some patients benefit from additional sessions:
- Stretch marks or surgical scars — 4–6 sessions for meaningful remodelling
- Significant cellulite — 4–6 sessions, often combined with adjunctive treatments
- Multiple-area protocols — additional sessions if treating several areas simultaneously
After the initial course, annual maintenance — typically a single session — sustains the result. For a fuller discussion, see how many Morpheus8 sessions will I need?
What does Morpheus8 Body cost?

Combining Morpheus8 Body with other treatments
For more pronounced concerns, Morpheus8 Body is often combined with complementary technologies:
- Morpheus8 Body + BodyTite — BodyTite delivers bipolar RF energy via a probe inserted under the skin for stronger deep tightening, complemented by Morpheus8 surface refinement
- Morpheus8 Body + VASER liposuction — fat removal plus skin tightening for substantial body contouring without surgical excision
- Morpheus8 Body + CelluTite — combined approach for stubborn cellulite, addressing both structural and surface components
- Morpheus8 Body + tummy tuck — post-surgical Morpheus8 for skin quality enhancement after surgical excision
Many CFS surgeons now routinely combine Morpheus8 Body with surgical procedures — converting full tummy tucks to mini-tummy-tucks, enhancing liposuction results, or optimising the skin quality outcomes of body contouring surgery.
How does Morpheus8 Body compare to alternatives?
- Vs surgical body contouring — surgery (tummy tuck, arm lift, thigh lift) delivers more dramatic results for substantial laxity but requires TIVA, scarring, and weeks of recovery. Morpheus8 Body is the appropriate alternative for mild-to-moderate cases.
- Vs BodyTite — BodyTite is more invasive (probe inserted under skin) but delivers stronger tightening. Often combined.
- Vs CoolSculpting/cryolipolysis — cryolipolysis targets fat only; doesn’t tighten skin. Morpheus8 addresses both — particularly relevant for patients where loose skin is the issue.
- Vs liposuction alone — liposuction removes fat but doesn’t tighten skin. Adding Morpheus8 Body addresses both. For larger fat volumes, surgery + Morpheus8 is often the combined approach.
- Vs other non-surgical body treatments — most “fat freezing” or surface RF body treatments don’t reach the depth Morpheus8 achieves. Morpheus8 is among the most powerful non-surgical body devices available.
What we don’t recommend
- Morpheus8 Body for substantial skin excess — major laxity needs surgical excision. Morpheus8 isn’t an alternative to tummy tuck when the situation warrants surgery.
- Single sessions for body areas — meaningful results need a course. Body collagen renewal is slow and a single session delivers modest change.
- Morpheus8 as a weight-loss method — the treatment addresses small fat pockets and skin quality, not weight reduction. Weight management precedes body contouring.
- Body treatment without adequate anaesthesia — topical numbing alone isn’t sufficient for full thigh or abdomen sessions. Local injection or Entonox is appropriate.
- Returning to high-impact exercise before week 2 — full activity should wait until surface healing is complete and any swelling has resolved.
Frequently asked questions
Is Morpheus8 Body painful?
Manageable with appropriate anaesthesia — combination of topical cream, sometimes local injection and/or Entonox. See Is Morpheus8 painful? for full detail.
Will Morpheus8 Body get rid of stretch marks?
It substantially improves the appearance — softens, fades, evens texture — but doesn’t fully erase them. Newer stretch marks respond better than older silver ones. Realistic expectations: significant improvement, not complete elimination.
How long until I see Morpheus8 Body results?
Initial tightening visible within 1–2 weeks; meaningful results from week 6 onwards; peak effect at 3–6 months. Results continue to refine as collagen renewal completes.
Can Morpheus8 Body be done after surgery?
Yes — Morpheus8 is often performed after liposuction or tummy tuck to enhance skin quality and tightening. We typically wait 3–6 months post-surgery before starting Morpheus8.
Is Morpheus8 Body safe for darker skin types?
Yes — Morpheus8’s insulated needle technology delivers RF energy at depth without epidermal heating, making it safe across all Fitzpatrick types.
What’s the difference between Morpheus8 Face and Morpheus8 Body?
Different handpieces, depths, and energy levels. Body uses longer needles (up to 7mm) at higher energy for thicker skin. See Morpheus8 Face for the facial protocol.
How long do Morpheus8 Body results last?
12–18 months without maintenance, longer with annual top-ups. Stability depends on maintaining weight and supporting skin health. See how long does Morpheus8 last.
Can I have Morpheus8 Body during pregnancy or breastfeeding?
No — we don’t treat during pregnancy or breastfeeding. Treatment can resume postpartum.
