Fat transfer (also called fat grafting or lipofilling) uses liposuction to harvest your own fat, purifies it, and injects it where you want more volume — the breasts, buttocks, calves, face, or hands. The cost depends entirely on the area being treated, so there’s no single price. At Centre for Surgery, fat transfer starts from £6,900 for breast augmentation, from £5,500 for calf augmentation, from £9,500 for a Brazilian Butt Lift, with facial, under-eye, and micro/nano fat grafting priced individually at consultation.
Every fat transfer is really two procedures in one — the liposuction to harvest the fat, and the injection to place it — which is the main reason the price sits where it does. This 2026 guide breaks the cost down by area, explains what’s included, what drives the final figure, how fat survival affects value, how it compares to implants, and how to spread the payments.

All fat transfer procedures are performed as a day case under TIVA (Total Intravenous Anaesthesia) by GMC-registered plastic surgeons.
A price tells you what fat transfer costs. It cannot tell you how much of that fat survives. Our fat transfer before and after photos show real patient results, and how to read these photos explains why the timing of a photograph matters more here than in almost any other procedure.
What’s included in the price — and what’s extra
The quoted price at Centre for Surgery is a single, transparent package covering:
- As many pre-operative consultations with your surgeon as you need
- Pre-operative medical assessment
- The surgeon’s fee and a consultant anaesthetist (TIVA)
- Theatre time and facility fees at our CQC-regulated Baker Street facility
- Both stages of the procedure — the liposuction harvest and the fat injection
- Your surgeon’s direct number for the first 24 hours
- Wound check at 7–10 days, surgeon review at 6 weeks, and a 3-month assessment
- A dedicated patient coordinator throughout
Your compression garments and any prescribed medications are charged separately and confirmed in advance — this applies to every fat transfer procedure, including fat transfer breast augmentation, where the surgical bra and donor-site garment are also purchased separately; see our dedicated fat transfer breast augmentation cost guide for the full breakdown. The £100 consultation fee is redeemable against the cost of your procedure if you proceed.
What affects the cost of fat transfer?
Three factors move the price:
- The area being treated: a facial graft or small top-up needs far less fat and theatre time than a BBL or breast augmentation, so it sits lower.
- The number of liposuction donor areas: harvesting from one area is simpler than contouring several. Treating more donor areas (which also gives you more body sculpting) adds to the cost.
- One session or a top-up/revision: some patients choose a second top-up procedure to build extra volume once the first has settled, and a revision is quoted individually.
Fat transfer cost by area
Fat transfer breast augmentation — from £6,900
Fat transfer breast augmentation increases breast size and improves shape using your own fat — no implants. It suits patients wanting a modest, natural increase of around half to one cup size, and typically costs more than implant-based augmentation because it’s genuinely two procedures in one (liposuction harvest plus grafting). For a larger or more defined result, fat can be combined with an implant in a hybrid breast augmentation. See our dedicated fat transfer breast augmentation cost guide for the full pricing breakdown by option, or the breast augmentation cost guide if you’re weighing fat against implants.
Brazilian Butt Lift (BBL) — from £9,500
A Brazilian Butt Lift transfers fat to the buttocks to improve volume, shape and projection, and is the most involved fat transfer because it harvests larger volumes — usually with 360° liposuction of the midsection. Centre for Surgery uses ultrasound-guided, subcutaneous-only injection for safety. For the full breakdown, see the BBL cost guide.
Calf fat transfer — from £5,500
Calf fat transfer adds volume and improves symmetry in the lower legs, and suits a mild to moderate volume deficit. For a more significant or defined increase, calf implants are an alternative.
Facial fat grafting, including under-eye/tear trough — priced at consultation
Facial fat grafting restores age-related volume loss in the cheeks, temples, under-eye hollows (tear trough) and jawline. Under-eye and tear trough fat transfer specifically uses much smaller volumes than body-area procedures, so it’s often quicker and less costly than a full facial grafting session, though it’s still priced individually since the precise volume needed varies by patient. Facial fat grafting is often done alongside a facelift or eyelid surgery, which is another reason it’s priced at consultation based on the areas treated.
Micro & nano fat — priced at consultation
Micro fat adds fine volume to areas like the hands, while nano fat — rich in skin-rejuvenating cells — improves skin texture and fine scarring rather than adding volume. Both are priced individually at consultation.
Why does some fat get reabsorbed — and does it affect the cost?
Not all transferred fat survives. Around 30–40% is naturally reabsorbed during healing, so roughly 60–70% remains long-term in well-selected patients. This is normal and planned for — your surgeon transfers a slightly higher volume than the final target to allow for it, and the fat that establishes a blood supply (typically by three to six months) is permanent. Occasionally a patient chooses a second top-up procedure to build extra volume, which is an additional cost. Maintaining a stable weight preserves the result, since transferred fat expands and shrinks with your body like any other fat.
Fat transfer vs implants — cost and value
For the breasts, buttocks, and calves you can choose fat or an implant, and the right answer depends on how much volume you want and how much donor fat you have:
- Fat transfer uses your own tissue, feels natural, and slims the donor area at the same time — but the volume gain is more modest and slightly less predictable, and occasionally needs a top-up.
- Implants give a larger, more predictable, defined result with no reabsorption — but use a synthetic device, may need replacing over time, and don’t contour a donor area.
For breast augmentation specifically, fat transfer typically starts higher than implants (£6,900 vs £5,900), since it’s genuinely two procedures in one operation — see our fat transfer breast augmentation cost guide for the detail. For other areas such as calves, the two approaches are more comparable on price. The real difference across the board is in the result and longevity rather than a dramatic price gap. Your surgeon advises which is realistic for your goals and anatomy at consultation. For the full head-to-head on the breast-specific decision, see our guide: Breast Implants vs Fat Transfer: Which Is Best For You?
Is fat transfer available on the NHS?
No. Fat transfer for cosmetic enhancement isn’t funded by the NHS, and private medical insurance doesn’t cover it. It’s a self-funded procedure, which is why many patients use finance to spread the cost.
Can you pay for fat transfer on finance?
You can pay in full or spread the cost with finance through Chrysalis Finance, subject to status. Plans and a representative example are on our finance options page, and a patient coordinator can talk you through them on 020 7993 4849.

Frequently Asked Questions: Fat transfer cost
How much does fat transfer cost in the UK in 2026?
At Centre for Surgery in London, fat transfer starts from £6,900 for breast augmentation, £5,500 for calf augmentation, and £9,500 for a Brazilian Butt Lift. Facial, under-eye, and micro/nano fat are priced individually at consultation. The final figure depends on the area treated and the volume involved.
Why does fat transfer cost more than liposuction alone?
A fat transfer includes liposuction to harvest the fat plus the extra steps of purifying it and injecting it precisely into the recipient area. It’s effectively two procedures in one, which takes more theatre time than liposuction by itself.
What’s included in the price?
The package covers the surgeon’s fee, the consultant anaesthetist (TIVA), theatre and facility fees, all consultations, both stages of the procedure, your surgeon’s direct number for the first 24 hours, a wound check, a 6-week surgeon review and a 3-month assessment. Compression garments and prescribed medications are charged separately on every fat transfer procedure, including breast fat transfer.
Why is fat transfer to the breasts the most expensive option?
Fat transfer breast augmentation starts from £6,900, higher than a BBL or calf transfer, mainly because it’s genuinely two procedures in one and typically costs more than implant-based breast augmentation too — the liposuction harvest, purification, and precise multi-pass grafting technique all add surgical time compared with simpler single-step procedures.
Why is a BBL more expensive than calf fat transfer?
A BBL harvests and transfers a much larger volume of fat than a calf graft — usually with 360° liposuction of the midsection — and uses ultrasound-guided injection for safety, all of which adds theatre time. That’s why it starts from £9,500 versus £5,500 for calf transfer.
Will I need a second procedure, and what does that cost?
Not usually, but because around 30–40% of transferred fat is reabsorbed, some patients choose a second top-up at three to six months to add extra volume. If you do, it’s quoted as an additional procedure. Your surgeon over-fills at the first procedure to reduce the chance of needing one.
How much is fat transfer per month on finance?
You can pay in full or spread the cost with finance through Chrysalis Finance, subject to status. Plans and a representative example are on our finance options page, and a patient coordinator can talk you through them on 020 7993 4849.
Is fat transfer cheaper than implants?
It depends on the area. For breast augmentation, fat transfer (from £6,900) typically costs more than implants (from £5,900), since it combines liposuction and grafting in one operation. For other areas such as calves, the two approaches are more comparable on price. The real difference across the board is in the outcome — fat gives a natural, more modest result and contours the donor area, while implants give a larger, more predictable volume but use a device that may need replacing over time.
Is fat transfer available on the NHS?
No. Cosmetic fat transfer is self-funded privately and isn’t covered by the NHS or by private medical insurance.
