Many women may find over time that their breasts lose their inherent firmness. The definitive treatment for getting firmer breasts is breast lift surgery which is also known as a breast uplift or mastopexy. Breast lift surgery is able to effectively improve the shape of breasts that have lost their shape and have taken on a deflated appearance over time. Many women may not be keen on breast augmentation surgery and a breast uplift may be able to give the impression of enhanced breast volume by improving the shape of the breast and in particular, upper pole fullness. If you are undecided on which treatment is best for you, we would advise a face-to-face consultation with one of our expert surgeons at Centre for Surgery in London. Your surgeon will clinically assess you and give you a clear treatment plan of what could work best for you.
Can exercise improve breast firmness?
The female breasts are primarily composed of glandular tissue and fat. They do not have any muscle in them and it is therefore not possible to increase the firmness of the breasts with exercise alone. Certain exercises that target the chest muscles such as press-ups and the benchpress may help to improve muscle tone beneath the breasts and this may lead to a modest improvement of sagging breasts at best. However, it can take women many months to reach this level of minimal improvement.
Our surgeons often get asked about various topically applied treatments such as herbal remedies, breast creams, dietary supplements and manipulative therapies. In all cases, these treatments are completely ineffective for the improvement of breast firmness and we would recommend steering well clear of these treatments.
Do women like perky boobs?
When considering the appearance of the breasts, the aesthetic ideal is of breasts that have optimal volume and a desirable shape which many women would describe as having perky breasts. Perky breasts whilst most commonly associated with younger women can be just as common to have perky boobs in women in their 40s. Certain factors may reduce the likelihood of having perky breasts including hereditary factors and significant changes in weight.
There is a wide spectrum of normality when considering the aesthetic appearance of the breasts. One of the most common causes of breast sagging is the natural ageing process. Older women will tend to have saggy breasts more than younger women due to a loss of skin elasticity which causes the breasts to develop droopiness and this is also known as breast ptosis.
Many women may develop self-confidence issues as a result of the appearance of their breasts which may lack fullness especially in the upper part of the breast and they may be concerned by the droopy appearance of their breasts.
What is the best treatment for getting perky breasts?
The only definitive treatment for achieving perkier breasts is by having a breast lift procedure. Breast uplift surgery focuses on improving the elasticity of the skin of the breast by surgical removal of redundant soft tissue in the breast followed by repositioning of the breast tissue to make the nipple set higher on the chest while simultaneously preserving the vital blood supply to the nipple and areola. Your surgeon will often need to take into account the anticipated positional drop of the breasts during the healing process by positioning the breasts higher than intended during the mastopexy procedure itself. Expected results of breast lift surgery include a more youthful and perkier looking breast which is much more natural-looking and in proportion to the rest of your anatomy. Breast lift surgery on average takes between 1 1/2 to 3 hours to carry out under a general anaesthetic. In many cases, your surgeon may advise having a breast reduction or a breast enlargement procedure in combination with a breast lift depending on your goals for treatment. Your bespoke treatment plan will be created after having a full clinical assessment with our expert surgeons.
Can women get perkier boobs without breast lift surgery?
There is no other effective treatment for achieving increased breast firmness and perky breasts. Breast lift surgery is the only effective and permanent treatment for achieving perky boobs. Very modest improvement may be achieved with regular physical exercise to strengthen the chest wall muscles and improve chest wall tone.
